Are you looking for ways to fill your days at home? Montréal’s public libraries are making 52,000 digital books, thousands of newspapers and magazines from around the world and online courses available to you at home, through a temporary virtual membership.
Who can access the virtual library?
Access to digital resources from Montréal’s public libraries is open to all members.
For access to the digital library, just log on to the Web site (in French) with your subscriber number and password. If you’re not a member, it doesn’t matter! Register online to access digital resources while you’re at home. Memberships are available only to people who live in Montréal.
Has your membership expired? Memberships that expired between January 1 and April 30, 2020, have been extended until July 31. If your membership expired before then, please register online to apply for a temporary membership.
Register from the comfort of your home
If you live in Montréal and don’t have a library card, all you need to do is complete an online form (in French) to apply for a temporary membership. You’ll receive a member number and personal identification number (PIN) by e-mail within three working days of your application. This information will give you access to the digital collection while you’re at home.
Get a library card
When the libraries open again, you can go to one of Montréal’s 45 libraries with photo ID and proof of address to get a library card. You can then check out books, CDs and DVDs, while continuing to enjoy digital media from Montréal’s public libraries.
