COVID-19 - Message from the Mayor of Saint-Laurent

Dear fellow citizens of Saint-Laurent,

In the turmoil of recent days, I have noticed an immense wave of solidarity starting to emerge. The community milieu is already mobilizing, and the different levels of government have announced major support for people in difficulty as well as for retailers and businesses. Along these same lines, Saint-Laurent has pledged $100,000 in emergency aid for local community agencies and for the Centraide’s Emergency Fund.

Closer to home, Développement économique Saint-Laurent is sparing no effort to inform our business community about the services available to them.The Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Saint-Laurent-Mont Royal has partnered with the J’achète bleu Quebec “buy local” campaign. A similar initiative has been launched by Saint-Laurent’s Quartier D association to support our merchants and restaurant owners on Boulevard Décarie whose products are still available for delivery or take-out.

As we approach the peak of the epidemic, we must not lose faith. Your governments are working to relaunch our economy once the main challenge, specifically containing the epidemic, has been overcome. Until then, every person’s role is to contribute by fully complying with the rules for isolation and social distancing.

I would like to take the opportunity to tip my hat to all medical personnel who are rising to this heroic challenge, and to all workers who are ensuring that businesses and essential services run smoothly!
