Discovering Montréal’s bygone neighbourhoods

Faubourg à m’lasse, futur site de Radio-Canada - Ville de Montréal
Archives de Montréal, VM94-U124-2Archives de Montréal, VM94-U124-2
The Faubourg à m’lasse, future site of Radio-Canada

From  1950 to 1970, Montréal underwent a great upheaval. Three neighbourhoods disappeared, partially or completely: the Red Light District, the Faubourg à m’lasse and Goose Village. This forced modernization meant 10,000 Montrealers were expropriated from these three neighbourhoods.

Watch testimonials from experts and former residents of these bygone neighbourhoods, who tell us about their neighbourhoods and the era itself.
