Young rapper Doble G won the MC Challenge, representing Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie. Invited to perform before audiences at the Maisons de la culture art centres, some nine young rappers squared off in the Montréal grand finale at Parc Jarry.

Did you see the French-language rap competition “La fin des faibles” on Télé-Québec? The MC Challenge is a version of this competition that was presented at the Maisons de la culture art centres in the spring of 2023.

During the finals in Montréal’s maisons de la culture, young participants competed in five challenge categories to showcase different facets of the art of rap. The categories were freestyle, a cappella, improv, adaptability to different musical and rhythmic styles and group cohesion/collaboration.

The nine winners of each borough finale were being coached by experienced rappers ahead of the July 8 Montreal Grand Finale at Parc Jarry. During the event, they offered audiences an electrifying performance!
