Consultation on Mobility and Transportation

Date

The borough of Lachine invites you to attend a consultation meeting at borough hall on Tuesday, February 7, at 7 p.m., to voice your opinion on mobility as well as on active means of transportation and public transit in the area located east of 32e Avenue.

Description

Are you interested in the development of public transit in Lachine? Are you concerned about road safety, reserved on-street parking spaces and the availability of charging stations for electric cars? Do you have suggestions for improving the cycling or walking experience?

This consultation is your opportunity to be heard! The area of Lachine under study is located east of 32e Avenue, bounded by the Lachine Canal to the south and the CPR tracks to the north.

Preparing for a local transportation plan l

The first consultation session was held on November 16, 2022 to take note of the public’s mobility concerns and suggestions.

This second session, on February 7 at 7 p.m., will provide an opportunity to help identify and discuss—in small working groups—the various solutions that could address the issues identified at the November meeting.

Here are a few examples of topics on which you will be able to express your opinion, concerning the sector east of 32e Avenue in Lachine:

  • Public transit (public transportation)
  • The pedestrian network (universal accessibility, pedestrian safety, user-friendliness of facilities)
  • The bicycle network (network development and connectivity with major generators of travel, including railroad crossings)
  • Parking
  • Car sharing
  • Electric vehicle charging stations

During the meeting, a brief presentation of the process will be given. Maps will be available to help with the discussion

Register by noon on February 6

Following these meetings, the local travel plan will be developed by the borough over the next few months. A public presentation of the plan will also be organized in order to provide an opportunity for exchange and discussion with Lachine residents.
