The little café at the entrance to Lachine’s Bibliothèque Saul-Bellow is back in business after being closed for a few years.

As soon as we arrive at the library, we’re greeted by the pleasant aromas coming from the gourmet area just a few steps from the entrance. Gabriel and Renata, a Lachine couple, have taken over the Café Lala, named after their daughter Laura. The menu is very appealing: all kinds of coffee, plus sandwiches, snacks and other treats, including Brazilian specialties highlighting the roots of these entrepreneurs. Try maté, a drink made from a Brazilian plant known for its invigorating virtues.

For now, Café Lala is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on their social media accounts to find out what’s new.

Did you know that you can eat and drink at the library? Whether at the work tables, at the round tables near the entrance, or even on the terrace in summer, you can sip and munch to your heart’s content. Why miss this opportunity?
