$141,000 for the Monkland Community Centre
The Monkland Community Centre will benefit from a $141,000 investment. The work to be done will improve certain areas, the access to the current premises and the access to the gymnasium bleachers. Soundproofing work will also be done to mitigate the impact of the noise coming from community rooms on residents living nearby.
Côte-des-Neiges warming station: Operations extended
Thanks to $15,000 in financial assistance from the borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, the community organization MultiCaf can extend its warming station pilot project in Côte-des-Neiges until March 31.
This amount is in addition to the initial funding granted by the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Île-de-Montréal ($10,000) and the Fondation du Grand Montréal ($5,000), which allowed the service to be made available for 8 weeks, until the beginning of February.
The warming station is open 7 days a week from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to serve people who are homeless, particularly at night, during very cold weather. There are two workers on-site, and coffee and soup are provided.
This service, the only one of its type in the area, makes it possible to document homelessness in places where no other emergency resource is available.
