Come and discover some of the animals of the next century in this exhibition, which features some 50 species that have had to evolve over the ages as a result of climate change.

A pink, turquoise and blue flamingo that can easily take flight; a huge mouserat that has the agility of a mouse and the intelligence of a rat; a red wolf equipped with wings that allow it to move around because it is much too heavy to travel on its feet…

These creatures of the future were born of the creativity of three classes of grade 5 and 6 students from Perce-Neige school who participated in an artistic, digital and scientific project offered by the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro.

The exhibition is presented in the youth section of the Pierrefonds library until December 16.

Art inspired by climate change and the evolution of species

The students first participated in two workshops offered by the GUEPE organization (Groupe uni des éducateurs-naturalistes et professionnels en environnement) in the fall of 2021.

The first workshop allowed them to become familiar with the issue of climate change. Then, in the second workshop, they were introduced to the concept of the evolution of species.

In the company of artist Madeleine Turgeon, the students were invited to create a sculpture out of recycled materials based on their recent learning.

Two employees of the Pierrefonds Library’s Fabricathèque then helped the students model their work in 3D.

Come see for yourself the amazing creativity of these groups of students!
