The city is providing $3 million worth of support to the Quartier des spectacles partnership and $1 million to Tourisme Montréal. This financial aid will help revitalize downtown and provide arts and culture activities, green spaces, pedestrian streets and terraces for residents to enjoy.
$3 million for the Quartier des spectacles partnership
This contribution will support the QdS partnership as it launches its major summer campaign, “Adventures at the Heart of the Island.” Among its initiatives:
- Making a large portion of Rue Sainte-Catherine pedestrian on weekends during the summertime
- Developing fun and educational structures for play and relaxation
- Presenting arts and culture activities for families and the public at large
- Adding creative attractions to downtown
$1 million for local restaurants
This amount will be used to launch a Tourism Montréal promotional campaign for Montréal restaurants. The aim is to get Montrealers to support local and independent restaurants and discover new ones as well as to make downtown a lively and vibrant place for dining by offering the public a rich and diverse array of restaurant options. This city-supported campaign is an invitation to a culinary journey without ever having to leave Montréal.
Support for both plans is part of the 2021 economic recovery plan, “Acting Now to Support Recovery.”
