The Simo Management firm has been hired by the city to conduct an inspection of the valves of the drinking water supply network throughout the borough in order to determine their operating condition and issue maintenance recommendations.
Inspection schedule: Monday to Thursday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Friday between 7 a.m. and noon.
What does the inspection consist of?
The valve operating mechanism will be checked to detect any irregularity, defect or breakage that could affect or interfere with proper operation.
As a result, there could be, at various intervals, a temporary drop in water pressure, with or without a reddish discolouration (rust) of the water. It is recommended that you check the water colour before using any appliance, such as your washing machine, to protect the look of the fabrics. It is preferable that you wash clothes or dishes outside working hours.
What to do in case of rusty water?
• First unscrew the tap’s nozzle and remove the aerator.
• Then turn on the main cold water tap (usually at the kitchen sink) to its maximum capacity.
• Let the water run for about 30 minutes until it becomes clear.
If such colouring persists outside the scheduled work days and hours, contact 311 to make a service request to your borough or to report any problems.
The city is aware of the inconvenience that may be caused by this work, which is necessary to maintain service quality, and thanks you for your cooperation.
