Montréal is launching the second edition of its participatory budget, earmarking $30 million to carry out projects proposed and chosen by Montrealers. Propose an idea to us and bring your dreams to life.

How does it work?

This democratic process allows Montrealers to decide how a portion of the municipal budget is used. You come up with ideas for municipal improvements or facilities, and then you decide which ones the city will build.

Phases

  1. From October 13 to December 4, 2022: the public is invited to submit ideas.
  2. December 2022 to August 2023: Proposals will be analyzed by the city and developed into feasible projects in collaboration with individuals representing organizations and with the public. A final list will be voted on after completion of the project feasibility studies.
  3. Fall 2023: Voting period. Winning projects will be completed as the $30 million budget permits.

What kinds of ideas can be proposed?

This year, the themes of the participatory budget are youth, equity and public safety. For example, your idea could help meet the needs of youth, ensure equitable access to municipal infrastructure, or improve safety in your neighbourhood.

How do you take part?

You have until December 4, 2022 to submit a project idea.
