Starting May 3, 2021, two sectors (Green and Red) of LaSalle will be extending the collection of food waste to buildings of 9 housing units or more as well as to industrial firms, commercial establishments and institutions.
This project is the first step in an overall strategy aimed at better managing waste materials, through a concern for reducing the environmental footprint and in the context of Ville de Montreal’s 2020-2025 master plan for waste management (Plan directeur de gestion des matières résiduelles - PDGMR). Knowing that approximately 40-55% of the contents of a garbage bag is composed of food waste, this collection could make it possible to reduce the amount of waste materials generated by your establishment by almost 50%.
