A master plan for parks and spaces is being developed for the Borough of Lachine.
This plan will propose development concepts and serve as a tool to prioritize investments to be made in parks and green spaces over the next 10 years. The plan will include:
- sectors under development
- waterfront parks
- park shelters (chalets)
- sports grounds
- and playground equipment
Adapting to residents’ needs
The Borough of Lachine is known for its waterfront parks. However, the 4.6% ratio of parks and green spaces is well below the Montréal average of 11.4%. In addition, 60% of Lachine residents live in multi-unit residential buildings and don’t have a backyard.
The objective is therefore to ensure that these developments meet residents’ needs.
Respecting sustainable development and eco-responsibility
The parks and green spaces master plan will be spread over ten years, with a prioritization of actions to be carried out in the short, medium and long term. It is also in line with Ville de Montréal’s greening and urban outdoor objectives.
Obviously, the parks and green spaces master plan will be developed while taking into account the principles of sustainable development, eco-responsibility and resilience.
