Lachine’s pleasure boating port will be converted into a vast riverside green space. Montrealers can enjoy a variety of nautical activities at this unique destination. The city will conduct water quality tests to develop a swimming area.
Redevelopment work through 2025
Montréal will invest more than $20 million in the future park, which is located in front of the Lachine shoreline and Parc René-Lévesque. The renovation project was chosen because of:
- Outdated facilities
- Damages caused by 2017 and 2019 spring floods
- The importance of investing in infrastructure maintenance
Giving an ecological value back to the site
In addition to increasing accessibility of the Lac Saint-Louis for the entire population, this major environmental restoration project is a tangible ecological action that is part of Montréal’s strategies to fight and adapt to climate change.
Public meeting and workshops with residents
A virtual information assembly was held on Augsut 13, 2020.
In 2021, development and activity plans for the site will be discussed in participatory workshops with residents. There will be one-time events to keep the space lively during construction.
Please note that 2020 seasonal activities will take place normally. The closing is planned for next fall.
