Parc La Fontaine family playground to be built

A new playground will be built in the northeast section of the park. Slated for completion in spring 2022, this innovative space will be fully adapted to meet the needs of families, especially those with children with reduced mobility.
The retrofitted family playground will include:
- Access ramps for children with reduced mobility
- Cedar-fibre surfacing specifically designed to cushion falls and allow wheelchairs to move short distances
- Play structures adapted for children in wheelchairs
- Muted colour choices to ensure a pleasant environment for autistic children

Phase one of the project will begin in the fall of 2021 and will be completed in the spring of 2022. The construction of the family playground includes two other phases to be carried out at a later date. The second phase will focus on the aquatic centre, with work to upgrade the swimmers’ pavilion and replace the aquatic facilities. Phase 3 will complete the retrofitting of the existing playgrounds located west of the family playground.
