Suspended for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the pedicab service is back in Saint-Laurent this summer, June 27 - August 19, 2022. Saint-Laurent seniors age 55 and over, living in a residence or on their own, will be able to take advantage of the free pedicab service.

This 3-wheeled, semi-electric pedicab service, decked out in Saint-Laurent’s colours, will be available June 27 - August 19, 2022, free of charge, and operated by driver Talanchie Dacilia.

Participating residences will be entitled to one day of availability per week with time slots for rides, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - noon and 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., for a maximum of 50 minutes, five days a week:

  • Monday to Thursday, at the seniors’ residences in the area, with their collaboration: Mondays at the Groupe Maurice Les Verrières Du Golf residence, every second Tuesday at the Manoir de Casson and the other Tuesday at the L’Alto residence, Wednesdays at Demeures Sainte-Croix and Thursdays, to be announced at a later date
  • On Fridays, Saint-Laurent residents age 55 and over living autonomously at home who wish to take advantage of this cycling ride, for a maximum of 2 participants at a time, may reserve at least 48 hours in advance by calling the Un vélo une ville team at
    438-378-0946.

In addition to the residence service days and the home service days on Fridays, the pedicab will be available for use at three special 2022 Summer Celebrations events:

  • July 5, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Parc Bois Franc, for the Latiendo la tierra concert
  • August 6, 3 p.m. - 8 p.m., at Parc Beaudet, for Saint-Laurent Day
  • August 9, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., at Parc Caron, for the Les Mamizelles concert, with Toxique trottoir

Before the pandemic, Un vélo une ville had already helped more than 30,000 seniors in nearly 20 cities and towns in Québec and New Brunswick, free of charge.

This service is made possible through a renewed partnership with Un vélo une ville, a charitable organization, to which Saint-Laurent has granted $13,000 in support for this new summer season.

Created in 2013, Un vélo une ville aims to break the isolation of seniors and improve their well-being.

This initiative is in line with two priorities of Saint-Laurent’s 2022-2025 Strategic Plan: the second aims to build an inclusive living environment and the fourth focuses on the mobility of residents and workers.
