All summer long, pedestrians can enjoy Rue Wellington and all its attractions safely. This commercial promenade in Verdun offers educational features, plants and flowers, patios and rest areas.

Description

Place Wellington is in the centre of Verdun’s main commercial street between Rue Galt and Rue de l’Église. The Église Notre‐Dame‐des‐Sept‐Douleurs fives the site character and offers a space for resting and gathering.

This haven of restfulness is an evolving public space. It has been set up temporarily since the summer of 2017. A permanent development will be created in a few years as part of the city’s shared and pedestrian streets program. New features will bring life to the area and enhance existing elements.

Objectives

  • Promote safe transportation (in particular with regards to users that are considered vulnerable) to a variety of institutions and other destinations in the neighbourhood (day care centres, schools, elder care facilities, hospitals, clinics, companies, housing projects, etc.)
