Art-industry-knowledge: Collaborative initiatives in digital creativity

Last updated January 25, 2023

Digital creativity and collaborative work are front and centre in this program. It supports innovative projects arising from partnerships between cultural organizations and digital businesses.

Description

This “Art-industry-knowledge: Collaborative initiatives in digital creativity” program is geared to cultural organizations interested in working in partnership with the digital creativity ecosystem, businesses, and the research community.

This program supports initiatives that spark innovation through the establishment of new models of collaboration and the development of art-industry-knowledge networks. In this regard, the program aims to attract cultural organizations interested in working in partnership with companies and the research community in digital creativity.

This call for projects also seeks to facilitate the cultural community’s adaptation to the many challenges posed by digital technology, and increase collaborations as part of an approach based on knowledge-sharing and knowledge transfer.

The projects selected will focus on collaborative experimentation and contribute to the artistic and economic development of the digital creativity sector, which is particularly dynamic in Montréal. The results obtained and the learning achieved will be the subject of a public presentation.

This program was created under the 2018-2021 cultural development agreement between the city and the government of Québec. It meets the digital technology objectives set out in the agreement, and corresponds to issues identified in the city’s 2017-2022 Cultural Development Policy, Combining creativity and the citizen cultural experience in the age of digital technology and diversity, by favouring a cross-cutting approach that draws on the power of culture as a vector for development. More specifically, it applies to the following cross-cutting themes: “Cultural and creative entrepreneurship to ensure the long-term viability of creativity” and “Using digital technology to enhance the citizen cultural experience.”

Québec cultural policy

The program draws on the goals set out in Québec’s cultural policy, Partout, la culture, notably goal 2, “Shape an environment conducive to the creation and promotion of arts and culture”; goal 3, “Enhance the relationship between place and culture”; and goal 4, “Focus on culture and communications for Québec’s economy and development.” More specifically, it corresponds to objective 3.4.2, “Drawing on the cultural energy of Montréal, Québec’s metropolis” and measure 32 in the 2018-2023 government action plan for culture, “Position Montréal as a leader in digital creativity.” Developed in this context, the “Art-industry-knowledge: Collaborative initiatives in digital creativity” program is consistent with actions undertaken in digital creativity, notably under the Québec’s digital cultural plan (PCNQ).
