In Montréal, 10 plants are equipped with a siren that sounds to warn the population in case of a major industrial incident. A siren test will be carried out in the areas potentially affected by these plants.

Description

This annual test aims to raise awareness regarding industrial risks and the safety instructions to follow should toxic substances be released.  

The 10 plants and affected areas are: 

  • From 9 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. :Lactalis Canada (Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Lachine, LaSalle, Le Sud-Ouest, Côte-Saint-Luc, Montréal-Ouest)
  • From 9:20 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. : La Brasserie Labatt (Lachine, LaSalle)
  • From 9:40 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. : Bœuf Mérite-Metro Richelieu (Montréal-Nord, Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles)
  • From 10 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. : Les entreposages frigorifiques Total (Anjou)
  • From 10:20 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. : Dural – Multibond (Dorval)
  • From 1:10 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. : Saputo Produits laitiers Canada, Saint-Laurent (Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Saint-Laurent, Ville de Mont-Royal)
  • From 1:40 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. : Produits Suncor Énergie - Sulfur plant (Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, Montréal-Est)
  • From 2 p.m. to 2:10 p.m. : Entreprise Indorama PTA Montréal (Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montréal-Est) 
  • From 2:20 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. : Saputo Produits laitiers Canada, Saint-Léonard (Anjou, Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Saint-Léonard)
  • From 2:40 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. : Pêcheries Atlantiques du Québec, Metro Richelieu (Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles)
