Last updated June 7, 2023
Reading time: 2 min

The TD Summer Reading Club offers a range of free activities to let kids discover how exciting reading can be. Club activities take place in neighbourhood libraries, online, and outdoors all summer long.

The TD Summer Reading Club is designed to help children discover the joys of reading and grow through books. Kids and their families can participate anywhere, anytime: At the library, at home, online or on the road!

Starting June 12, children under 13 can register to join the club, either online or at their local library. Upon registration, members receive a kit with a notebook to track their reading, suggestions for books and activities, and a secret code to access special content. Fun activities are also offered throughout the summer to help children fire up their passions and sharpen their skills.

Here are some of the activities offered:

Podcast creation workshops (in French)

The La puce à l’oreille team is offering introductory podcast creation workshops at the following libraries:

  • Cartierville
  • Frontenac
  • Julio-Jean-Pierre
  • L’Octogone
  • Robert-Bourassa
  • Rosemont
  • Saint-Henri
  • Saint-Pierre

During two half-day sessions, the children learn all about podcast creation: ideation, interview techniques and recordings, dialogue and reading segments, and the creation of sound design and a logo. The podcasts are then sent to parents and posted on the La puce à l’oreille website. Discover the podcasts created last year!

Storytelling Trail

Join us on the Storytelling Trail and read a story outdoors as you stroll through the pages. The featured book is “Trésor” by Mireille Messier. Large signs illustrating a page from the book have been set up outside a library, or in a park, forming a trail. Young people and their families can walk around outside while reading the book or can scan a QR code to listen to the book as they walk along the trail.

Libraries in 16 of the city’s boroughs offer this activity, in both French and bilingual versions.
