Théâtre La Roulotte: Coming to a park near you
Every summer, Théâtre La Roulotte offers free performances (in French) in parks in Montréal neighborhoods.
Théâtre La Roulotte is the oldest children’s theatre in Québec. This travelling theatre was founded in 1952 by actor and director Paul Buissonneau and Claude Robillard, director of Montréal’s parks department.
Each year, close to 50 captivating free shows are staged at more than 40 parks in the city, to families’ delight.
Since 2016, the scripts have been created or adapted following a call for tenders, organized in cooperation with the Centre des auteurs dramatiques.
Théâtre La Roulotte is produced by Montréal in partnership with the National Theatre School of Canada and the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal. It is funded under the 2021-2024 Cultural development agreement between the city and the Québec government.
