Meet the members of the jury

Anahita Bamdadian
Originally from Teheran, Anahita Bamdadian is an artist based in Montreal. She holds a bachelor’s degree in painting and a master’s in art history from the Université de Montréal. Since 2005, she has been developing a research project focusing on the question of identity and presence in her work. Researching the notion of identity and presence, she examines different aspects of the subject’s reception in both figurative and abstract painting. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Tehran.

Hélène Salamanca

Hélène is a Montreal-born painter with a BFA from Concordia University. Her practice focuses on the narrative surrounding everyday scenes and the ambivalence of memory. Her work translates into a colorful, intuitive exploration of the image, highlighting the multiple interpretations at the heart of figuration.

Noémie Weinstein

Noémie Weinstein lives and works in Montreén 2012, then from UQÀM in 2015. Her work has been exhibited in several galleries and artist-run centers in Quebec, including Galerie B-312, Caravansérail, ArtMûr and Maison des Arts de Laval. She also takes part in artist residencies, such as at the Vermont Studio Center, where she was awarded a bursary. Several of her works have been acquired by collections, notably that of the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec.

Through painting and drawing, Noémie Weinstein seeks to represent very specific moments in which spaces slip away. This body of work, from which all human presence is evacuated, is strewn with unreal, disorienting, drooping architectures that, thanks to fluid, even smoky pictorial treatments, create dreamlike atmospheres. The spaces depicted reflect on our relationship with time. Like a vague memory resurfacing, she attempts to depict an impression of unreality, an experience of disorientation within the familiar.
