Participants can choose to draw a self-portrait or paint a tree as a metaphor for themselves. While the expressive mode is primarily drawing, words and quotations can also be used. 

Materials provided include medium-sized paper, various types of pencil (oil pastels, wax crayons, and coloring pencils) and gouache.
