Review the CitéMTL tax and property assessment information consultation service terms of use.

The purpose of these terms of use is to inform you of your rights and responsibilities and to govern transactions related to subscriptions and fees for viewing account statements when you use the CitéMTL service.

By using this online service, you are entering into a transaction with “Ville de Montréal”, hereinafter referred to as “the city”. You acknowledge that you have read the terms of use for these services and that you accept them without reservation.

User account

In order to use the city’s online services, you must create an account on montreal.ca. It will be used to identify you and handle your application securely. 

Who can use the service

Access to CitéMTL is reserved for legal and financial professionals who need to check the property assessment roll, such as lawyers, mortgage lenders or notaries.

Certification to use the service requires proof of your professional status such as a certificate of membership in a professional order, a letter of employment or any other document that officially confirms your professional status. You represent and warrant that the information provided is true, accurate and complete, and you agree to keep it up to date at all times.

You cannot share your account with another person. You agree to protect your password and not to disclose or transfer it to third parties. You are fully responsible for your user account and any actions or steps undertaken through it.

If you have reason to believe that the security of a user account or password has been compromised, you must immediately notify the city and change your password.

Anyone who fails to comply with these requirements or whose profession or field of activity is not authorized will be refused access to the service, and subscription fees will not be refunded.

Only a certified individual may grant access to other members of their organization. That individual is responsible for informing members of their organization of the responsibilities associated with using these access privileges.

You are responsible for the appropriate use of information made available by the city, in accordance with its intended purpose.

Applicable fees 

Your annual subscription fee must be paid when applying for membership. The fee for each tax account statement query is deducted from the balance on your account (virtual wallet). Your account status is displayed online, and the fee is deducted in real time.

The city reserves the right to adjust rates on an annual basis.

Availability

You can search CitéMTL from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Data accuracy

The city ensures that all information and content available on CitéMTL is accurate and up to date, subject to any changes that may have a retroactive effect on an account balance, such as interest adjustments, the addition of property transfer taxes, local improvement taxes, canceled payments, etc.

Due to specific legislation, data on accounts associated with federally and provincially owned buildings may not reflect actual billing. It is the customer’s responsibility to verify this data with the city.

Search queries

You are solely responsible for the results of your search queries. The city does not guarantee the complete accuracy of the data collected and assumes no responsibility for any errors it may contain or for any misinterpretations to which it may give rise.

Text and data available on CitéMTL may contain technical inaccuracies or typographical errors.

In the event of a discrepancy between an official text and the content of CitéMTL, the official text takes precedence.

Rights and obligations of the city

The city may withdraw access to CitéMTL if these terms of use are violated. In the case of a terms of use violation, access rights will be suspended, and the user will be notified and required to provide explanations to the CitéMTL administrator within the specified timeframe. Otherwise, the account will be closed, and the account balance and subscription fees will not be refunded.

Credit cards

Payment is only accepted by credit card (Visa or MasterCard). Once you have entered your payment information and the transaction has been accepted, the amount will be charged to your credit card. 

You will receive a transaction confirmation with a reference number by e-mail.

Please note that the financial institution is the online payment operator, not the city. When you submit your payment information, it is sent directly to the financial institution and does not pass through city servers.

Purchase transactions are made through a secure system that uses the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol to encrypt data and transport it securely through the network.

Reimbursement

Your subscription fee and account balance (virtual wallet) are non-refundable. 

General

During an online purchase, the city cannot be held responsible for damages resulting from use of the Internet, particularly data loss, viruses, service interruptions or other issues.

By accepting the terms and conditions for online transactions, you agree to the city contacting you by e-mail to keep you informed of the status of your application in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CSAL).

In the case of discrepancies between the versions of these terms and conditions, the French version takes precedence.

The purpose of this Web site is to provide you with information about Montréal’s municipal services and operations. Information on the city’s Web site does not replace Montréal by-laws. In all your actions and undertakings, you must comply, at all times, with all applicable municipal by-laws, borough by-laws and agglomeration by-laws.
