Highlights

As of December 31, 2024:

  • There are 67,885 non-market housing units (dwellings) in the Montréal urban agglomeration, including 65,752 in the municipality of Montréal.
  • Nearly 32% of social housing is low-income (HLM) housing. There are 10,787 HLM units for seniors and 9,862 for singles under the age of 60 and families.
  • About 33% of social housing units are operated by non-profit housing organizations and almost a quarter (23.2%) are housing co-ops.
  • Of the non-HLM public housing units (8,193), 63.6% are owned by the SHDM.
