Expansion of the Boisé sector at Parc Frédéric-Back

Redevelopment continues at Parc Frédéric-Back. Development and greening operations are underway in the western Boisé sector.
Thanks to this project, 24 hectares will be added to the park and the area of the Boisé sector will be doubled. Once completed, the project will also offer new interior and exterior views of the park while creating additional living environments for wildlife.

In the area west of the current Boisé sector
What?
- Preparing the site for new developments
- Planting trees, shrubs and plants
- New features, including relaxation areas, pedestrian paths, lookout points and areas of the park that were previously inaccessible
- Surface water management infrastructures to counter the risk of flooding and limit the production of leachate (liquid resulting from the passage of water through landfilled waste)
Why?
- Reducing heat islands with the addition of 2,200 trees, shrubs and plants
- Enhance the park’s amenities and the visitor experience by creating relaxation areas and adding 3 km of trails
- Creating a greener and more welcoming environment
- Creating new natural environments for wildlife
