Reading time: 1 min

Work to extend the bike path on Rue Louvain will begin in the spring of 2025. This link, accessible year-round, will help make travel safer for cyclists, connect the different cycling links in the area, and facilitate access to popular sites in the neighbourhood.

Everything you need to know about the work site

When

May 2025 to the fall of 2025

Where

On Rue Louvain between Rue Saint-Denis and Rue Saint-Hubert

What

  • Development of a one-way bike path on each side of the street between Rue Saint-Denis and Rue Saint-Hubert.
  • Rue Louvain transformed into one-way eastbound road between Rue Lajeunesse and Rue Saint-Hubert.
  • Addition and reprogramming of traffic lights.
  • Development of buffer zones between the parking lane or the traffic lane and the bike path using bollards and marking operations where the width of the road allows it.
  • Installation of road signage.

 Why

  • Secure bike travel, notably for students at École Christ-Roi.
  • Connect several existing cycling links in the area, including between the Berri and Lajeunesse EBN routes, and the bike lanes on Rue Saint-Hubert.
  • Facilitate direct access to very busy sites in the neighbourhood, including the École Christ-Roi, Parc Frédéric-Back and Parc Henri-Julien.
  • Ease car traffic.
