Fun and games to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Montréal Olympics
In 2026, Montréal is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Olympic heritage. Relive the frenzy of the 1976 Games with a fun-filled program of activities! Sports, culture, history and entertainment activities for the whole family await you throughout the year.
Activities will take place in various locations across the city, including several that were created for inherited from the 1976 Games.
Attend or participate in sports competitions
Come out and encourage athletes of all ages and levels during sports competitions. Several events are offering special fan zones with entertainment and a festive atmosphere. Among them are the International Gymnix gymnastics competition from March 4 to 8 and the 49th annual Montréal Games, a sports competition for children and a legacy from the 1976 Olympics, from April 8 to 12.
There are several outdoor activities, including the GO Bike Festival, which offers special activities inspired by the 1976 Games on its Tour La Nuit courses on May 29, and the Tour de l’île on May 31.
Some events carry on Olympic traditions to offer an immersion in the spirit of the 1976 Games, such as symbolic ceremonies at the Scout Olympiads and the CAMO Montréal Aquatic Club’s commemorative competition.
The Loisirs récréatifs et communautaires de Rosemont is offering 3 free events from July 4 to 18, 2026 that are a perfect introduction to sports for young people.
Relive the Olympics through cultural outings
From March 27 to September 4, the McCord Stewart Museum will present its exhibition titled “Montréal 1976: An Olympic Event.” Artefacts, clothing, posters and archives of the Olympics take us behind the scenes of the event and celebrate its urban and architectural heritage.
Beginning May 1, the public can enjoy a new guided tour of Montréal’s Olympic Park and discover the history, architecture and backstage of the iconic Olympic Stadium. A large festive and commemorative concert is also planned for August 1.
