In 2026, Montréal is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Olympic heritage. Relive the frenzy of the 1976 Games with a fun-filled program of activities! Sports, culture, history and entertainment activities for the whole family await you throughout the year.

Activities will take place in various locations across the city, including several that were created for inherited from the 1976 Games.

Attend or participate in sports competitions

Come out and encourage athletes of all ages and levels during sports competitions.

Several events will carry forward or reference Olympic traditions in an effort to recapture the spirit of the 1976 Games. Symbolic ceremonies and commemorations will be included in certain swimming, rowing and canoeing competitions, and in different Olympiad-style events for young people.

To introduce people to the Olympic discipline of track and field, Loisirs récréatifs et communautaires de Rosemont (Rosemont community recreation services) invites young people to three events offered free of charge between July 4 and 18, 2026.

There are several outdoor activities, including the GO Bike Festival, which offers special activities inspired by the 1976 Games on its courses of Tour La Nuit on May 29, and the Tour de l’île on May 31.

Relive the Olympics through cultural outings

Until September 4, the McCord Stewart Museum will present its exhibition titled “Montréal 1976: An Olympic Event.” Artefacts, clothing, posters and archives of the Olympics take us behind the scenes of the event and celebrate its urban and architectural heritage.

Beginning May 1, the public can enjoy a new guided tour of Montréal’s Olympic Park and discover the history, architecture and backstage of the iconic Olympic Stadium.

On July 7, the swimming pool at the Parc Jean-Drapeau aquatic complex will host a special edition of the “cinéma flottant” (floating cinema) event, inspired by the Olympic Games.

Fun-filled thematic evenings are also scheduled at the MEM and at the Aréna Maurice-Richard, and a major festive and commemorative concert is scheduled to take place at the Olympic Stadium on August 1.
