Creating the park offered an opportunity to consolidate and showcase these natural ecosystems and their rich biodiversity for everyone to enjoy.

New points of contact with nature

The park brings together a variety of living environments, along with rich and complementary ecosystems. So far, 660 hectares of green spaces consisting of public, institutional and private land have been identified through the creation of the Grand Parc de l’Est. In the coming years, the park will be developed with a view to offering living environments that have a positive impact on health and quality of life for the public.

The Parc-nature de la Pointe-aux-Prairies Nature Park and the Réserve naturelle de l’Île-Bonfoin are part of the Grand Parc de l’Est and are already open to the public.

Supporting green recovery in the east of the island of Montréal

The development of the Grand Parc de l’Est is part of the city’s efforts to green and revitalize the eastern island of Montréal and is one of the pillars of this transformation, as it aims to offer the population a healthy environment and a special connection with nature.

Shaping the area to reflect Montréal’s population

A public consultation process is underway. The public is invited to share their thoughts on the entire eastern tip of the island with the goal of improving planning for the Grand Parc de l’Est.
