May is Garden Month in Saint-Laurent. This edition will highlight birds, emphasizing their essential role in the heart of biodiversity.

Throughout the month of May, participate in a variety of activities to enjoy outdoor spaces, learn more about protecting urban birds, support biodiversity, and contribute to the greening of Saint-Laurent.

PROGRAM

Selection of books on biodiversity and birds
Bibliothèque du Boisé and Bibliothèque du Vieux-Saint-Laurent
Starting May 1
Thematic tables with various books on gardening, urban agriculture and biodiversity will be available for consultation or borrowing at the two Laurentian libraries.

Protecting urban birds to preserve biodiversity (in French)

Saturday, May 3, 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Places are limited. Participants will leave with plants.

Parc Beaudet

Participate in this urban agriculture fair and get tips from various organizations to help you garden better.
In collaboration with VertCité.

Get free vegetables and plants to start your own edible garden in your backyard or on your balcony.

The plants distributed attract pollinators, including butterflies and birds.

Distributions take place rain or shine, while supplies last.
Distribution is reserved for Saint-Laurent residents only.
Bring your own bag or box for transportation.
First come, first served. No registration.
There will be a line-up, so bring what you need for comfort (hat, umbrella, bottle of water, sunscreen, etc.).

Proof of Saint-Laurent residency will be required.
Reserve your tree and time to pick it up. 
Limit of one tree per Saint-Laurent address.
Quantities are limited. 
Proof of address will be required on site to validate reservation.

  • Siberian pear tree

Visit educational kiosks on birds. A passport will give you a chance to win biodiversity-related prizes.

Most Beautiful Garden Contest
As a follow-up to its Garden Month celebrations, Saint-Laurent is inviting all residents to enter the Mon jardin écolo contest, which rewards gardens, large or small, on the ground or on a balcony.

These will then be voted on by the public online. Prizes will be awarded to the gardens receiving the most votes.

July: Enter your garden online with a short description
August: Share your entry on social media to get votes. 
September: Check your inbox to see if your garden has won a prize!
