Pierrefonds-Roxboro aquatic complex being built

The construction of a new aquatic complex is underway in Pierrefonds-Roxboro. The facilities of this innovative project will go beyond conventional construction standards by aiming to achieve LEED V4 Gold Level certification.

These first inland aquatic infrastructures on the West Island will benefit residents of both Pierrefonds-Roxboro and L’Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève.

When? 

Fall 2023 to spring 2026 

What? 

  • A 25-metre long pool with eight swimming lanes
  • A recreational pool with a wading pool, play fountains and a hot tub
  • A multipurpose room and common areas
  • A universal changing room that is accessible to everyone, regardless of gender
  • A coatroom that is adapted for people with reduced mobility

Why? 

  • To promote physical activity
  • To Improve the quality of life of Montrealers by building a low-carbon, energy-efficient building

A universally accessible complex

  • Loading zone and parking for people with reduced mobility
  • Ramps and elevator
  • Spacious, unobstructed traffic areas
  • Access ramp or slope for entering pools

Energy-efficient facilities 

  • Reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions thanks to the thermal performance of the building envelope and roof
  • Optimization of building mechanics through geothermal energy
  • Better management of drinking water consumption through an economical filtration system
  • Construction of a retention basin to reduce sewer backups and wastewater discharge into waterways
