Redevelopment of Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis and Boulevard Albert-Hudon

Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis between Rue Langelier and Boulevard Louis-H.-La Fontaine and Boulevard Albert-Hudon between Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis and Rue Léger will be redeveloped. The objective is to make travel safer for residents and to improve the quality of their living environment.

A growing area

Several construction projects are changing travel dynamics in the area.

Among them are an elementary and a high school being built by the Société québécoise des Infrastructures (SQI) and the Centre de services scolaire de la Pointe-de-l’île (CSSPI), as well as an assisted living facility on the Hôpital Rivière-des-Prairies site.

Start date: Construction is scheduled in the spring of 2025.

Why?

The purpose of the redevelopment project is to:

  • Promote active travel (on foot or by bike) and make it safer
  • Ease traffic congestion, while accommodating the industrial sector’s truck transportation needs
  • Make public transportation more efficient
  • Increase greening to combat heat islands
  • Upgrade lighting and signage

Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis segment

The project includes:

  • Widening sidewalks
  • Greening and tree planting
  • Creating protected unidirectional cycle paths in each direction
  • Maintaining parking and reserved lanes for buses
  • The removal of a lane of traffic by direction

Boulevard Albert-Hudon segment

Boulevard Albert-Hudon will become one way northbound to secure pedestrian routes. Sidewalks will be widened and greening increased.
