Repairing a water main under Boulevard Rosemont
The drinking water main underneath Boulevard Rosemont in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, will be repaired to prevent breaks and extend its useful life.
About this project
When?
September 2024 to April 2025
Where?
Under Boulevard Rosemont between Boulevard Saint-Michel and Boulevard Pie-IX.
What?
Rehabilitation of the 500 mm pipe by lining a kilometre of its length
Pipe lining consists of attaching a flexible resin-coated membrane, known as the liner or sheath, to the inner wall of a pipe. The liner is introduced into the pipe through a nearby access point. It then undergoes a solidification process in which the liner is fused to the pipe. This method, which requires little excavation, minimizes obstructions, the time needed to repair the pipes and the need to use expensive and pollution-generating machinery.
Why?
This pipe, which was built in 1910, is now more than 100 years old. Pipe lining will help optimize the water supply network and extend the pipe’s usable life by around 50 years.
