Last updated April 16, 2025
Reading time: 1 min

Reconstruction work will be carried out on drinking water and sewer pipes on Rue Remembrance. As part of the work, lead water service connection will also be replaced, and drainage ditches will be added in the area.

When?

From the end of April to November, 2025

Where?

Rue Remembrance, between 19e Avenue and 25e Avenue

What?

 The projected work includes:

  • The reconstruction of watermains and secondary water pipes
  • The development of underground infrastructures linked to water distribution
  • The reconstruction and replacement of sewer pipes
  • The replacement of lead water service connections
  • The reconstruction of water and sewer service connection up to the property line
  • The construction of drainage ditches
  • The complete renewal of the pavement and sidewalks within worksite boundaries.

Why?

For a more efficient and uninterrupted drinking water distribution system in the area, the existing watermain, installed in 1931, must be rebuilt.

We will be taking this opportunity to carry out additional work to enhance the durability of the secondary water and sewer systems. Installed in 1962, the sewer pipe will be replaced by pipes having a larger diameter. Additionally, in accordance with the action plan to eliminate lead from the water distribution system, lead water lines will be replaced by copper lines. Drainage ditches will be added for improved management of stormwater runoff due to abundant rainfall caused by climate change.

Temporary water distribution system

Its installation requires two brief interruptions of drinking water distribution to some buildings. Doorhangers detailing the time, date and other information will be distributed to affected residences.

Detours

Obstructions will change over the duration of the construction work. Please follow the indications on signs. The map below shows the planned detours for this project.
