Sewer, water main and road repairs on Rue Rochon and Rue Crevier
Repairs to drinking water and sewer mains will be carried out on Rue Rochon and Rue Crevier in Saint-Laurent. Lead water service lines will be replaced and landscaped curb extensions added as part of this project.
When?
June 8, 2026 to the end of 2027
Where?
Rue Rochon (between Rue Grenet and Rue Cardinal) and Rue Crevier (between Boulevard de la Côte-Vertu and 1225 Crevier)
What?
The project plans include:
- Rebuilding water mains and secondary water lines
- Developing underground water distribution infrastructure
- Rebuilding and replacing sewer mains
- Replacing lead water service lines
- Rebuilding water and sewer connections up to the property line
- Adding landscaped curb extensions
- Complete resurfacing of the roadway and sidewalks within the construction zone
Why?
The existing secondary water line, which dates back to the 1940s and 1950s, must be rebuilt to ensure an efficient and continuous supply of drinking water to the area. Additionally, in accordance with the action plan to eliminate lead, lead water service lines will be replaced with copper ones.
The city is taking this opportunity to incorporate additional repairs into this project in order to ensure the long-term durability of the area’s sewer system, which dates back to the early 1950s.
The borough is also part of this project to improve pedestrian safety and enhance the pedestrian experience by reducing the width of the roadway and widening sidewalks. In addition, landscaped curb extensions will be built at the southern intersection of Rue Crevier and Rue Rochon.
These investments contribute to Montréal’s growth and development, help alleviate the problem of declining road infrastructure, and improve the overall condition of roadways through the use of better maintenance techniques, while factoring in road conditions and traffic constraints.
Temporary water distribution system
Installing a temporary system means that the supply of drinking water must be briefly interrupted for some buildings. A pamphlet specifying the date, time and all details about water outages will be distributed in advance to affected homes.
Traffic obstructions will be adjusted throughout the project. It is essential to comply with all signage. The map below shows planned detours at the start of the construction project.
