Discover a simple and creative way to give new life to worn-out clothing by transforming an old sock into a reusable tawashi sponge.

Description

This hands-on workshop demonstrates how a small everyday action can help reduce waste while encouraging creativity, resourcefulness, and sustainable living. 

Workshop overview: 

  1. Introduction (5 minutes) 
    A discussion about items we often throw away too quickly and how they can be repurposed. Participants will learn how an old sock can be transformed into a practical household sponge and will be introduced to the tawashi sponge, including its uses and care. 

  2. Demonstration (5 minutes) 
    Presentation of a homemade weaving loom made from wood or cardboard, along with a step-by-step demonstration of the weaving process. 

  3. Hands-On Activity (30 to 40 minutes) 
    Participants will create their own tawashi sponge using clean, worn-out socks or recycled fabric strips. 

  4. Wrap-Up and Discussion (5 minutes) 
     A chance to reflect on the experience and explore other ways to repurpose everyday materials.
