A permit is required to drive an outsized vehicle on the Montréal road network. Learn all you need to know about obtaining your permit.

In Ahuntsic-Cartierville, you need a special permit for outsized vehicles if your vehicle:

  • is wider than 2.6 metres;
  • is taller than 4.15 metres;
  • weighs more than 50 metric tonnes and requires a class 6 or 7 driver’s license.

 

To get your permit, you must: 

  1. apply for a special travel permit from the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ).
  2. apply for a permit online for all boroughs that participate in the online service and through which the outsized vehicle will travel.
  3. return the borough-approved permits to the MTQ.

 

Billing 

You will be billed 1 month after your permit is issued.
