Organize a public event at the Parc du Mont-Royal
Do you want to organize a public event at the Parc du Mont-Royal? There are specific conditions for events in this park and prior authorization is needed in some cases. Find out what you need to know.
Events that do not require authorization
Events with fewer than 50 people, as well as freely accessible recreational activities, do not require a permit. However, these types of events must comply with several conditions, particularly regarding the use of equipment (tables, chairs, tents, BBQs, etc.) and sound amplification (radios, speakers, etc.).
To learn more about applicable conditions, please refer to the guide (in French) in the picnics and private gatherings section.
Events that require authorization
Events with 50 to 3,000 people in attendance require prior authorization.
Authorization without street closing
You must get authorization if your event includes the following:
- sound amplification
- sales of promotional items
- alcohol sales and consumption
- special structures such as tents (in authorized areas of the park only)
Authorization with street closing
To close Voie Camillien-Houde, Chemin Remembrance, or both streets, your event must have an added value, such as promoting Montréal locally or internationally. Streets cannot be closed longer than one day.
How do you apply?
You must complete the public event application and submit it to the festivals and events division.
Plan on submitting your application at least 90 days before the date on which you plan to hold the event.
See the Promoter’s Guide for information about preparatory steps and how to submit an application.
