Aquatic complex: project update
Construction of the future Pierrefonds-Roxboro Aquatic Complex continues to move forward, and the project has now entered its final phases before opening. Here is an update on the status of the project and the key steps that remain before the facility can welcome the public.
Many of you have been asking when the new aquatic complex will open its doors. Believe us, we share your excitement! We are just as eager to welcome you to this highly anticipated community facility.
The aquatic complex is now in the final stage of completion. A few final tasks and verifications must still be completed before the Borough can officially take possession of the building. We have worked closely with the contractor to ensure that every component of the project meets the highest standards of quality. This will allow us to provide residents with a facility that is fully ready to operate under the best possible conditions.
In the spirit of transparency, we would like to keep residents informed about the project’s progress and the next steps ahead.
Timeline update
As is often the case with a project of this scale, the final months of summer are dedicated to a series of inspections, tests and validations. In addition, the heavy rainfall that occurred on June 20 put several building systems to the test before they were fully operational, requiring additional assessments and technical adjustments. These interventions have also helped confirm the performance and compliance of the building’s various systems, an essential step before the facility can be put into service.
Over the coming weeks, the professionals overseeing the project will continue the required inspections and validations to ensure that all aquatic facilities meet the highest standards of quality, safety and functionality.
Once the building is officially handed over to the Borough, another equally important phase will begin: commissioning the facility. This process, which will take place over several weeks, will allow teams to test equipment under real operating conditions, make final adjustments, and prepare lifeguards, instructors, maintenance and customer service staff to ensure a safe and high-quality experience from day one.
When will you be able to enjoy the facility?
If the next phases proceed as planned, residents may begin discovering the aquatic complex gradually through public swim sessions offered during the fall.
Our goal is to offer an initial, limited aquatic program in Fall 2026, ending before the holiday season. However, this timeline remains subject to the successful completion of the remaining validation and commissioning phases. The full range of aquatic activities, including swimming lessons for all levels, aqua fitness classes and other regular programs, is expected to launch in Winter 2027. Details about the activities that will be available will be announced at a later date. Stay tuned for future updates.
