This summer marked the debut of two new murals decorating the practice walls at the tennis courts in Parc Marcel-Laurin. They feature two leading Canadian figures in the sport—Victoria Mboko and Félix Auger-Aliassime.

Two inspiring murals for the community

These murals are part of the Murales de pratique project, a series of 12 works of art displayed at various tennis courts across Montréal. The murals at Parc Marcel-Laurin are the 8th and 9th in the collection.

The choice of Victoria Mboko and Félix Auger-Aliassime was a natural one. Both embody the excellence of Canadian tennis. Félix Auger-Aliassime has already ranked among the top five players in the world and Victoria Mboko won the Montreal Masters in 2025.

Highly popular during the summer season, the tennis courts at Parc Marcel-Laurin are a well-appreciated place for tennis lovers of all ages to get together and play.

Meticulous work

It took more than 30 hours of work to complete these two murals.

“These murals celebrate perseverance, ambition and striving to overcome challenges—values that unite sports and art. These works of art form part of community life and the players’ own experience. I hope they will inspire young people to dream big while strengthening their sense of belonging to these sports facilities,” explained artist Jenna Schwartz, known for her large-scale murals.

Located directly on the practice courts, the murals accompany players during their training sessions.

“With the Murales de pratique project, we aim to make sports facilities more enjoyable and welcoming for everyone. By highlighting role models like these two players, we’re bringing tennis closer to the public and showing that even the most ambitious dreams can take root on neighbourhood courts. These murals help make tennis a sport that’s accessible for the next generation and brings them together,” stated Hugues Léger, Executive Director of Tennis Montréal.

For the teams in Saint-Laurent, these murals will transform the practice walls into true places of inspiration for young tennis players.

“I am extremely proud to see this magnificent tennis mural project come to life. More than just practice walls, they will offer young people in Saint-Laurent a place to train, become motivated and dream alongside their role models, Félix and Victoria,” explained Ariane Guenette, head of the Sports section in Saint-Laurent. “Thinking back to the little girl I used to be, who spent hours hitting balls against a wall, I’m delighted that today’s generations can benefit from such inspiring facilities. We’re privileged to have been able to carry out this project.”

Saint-Laurent wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone using the tennis courts, for their patience and cooperation during the creation of these works of art, which are the outcome of a collaborative effort between Tennis Montréal, Arrondissement de Saint-Laurent and the Festival MURAL and were made possible through the Regional sports associations support program (PSASR).
