Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Thursday, September 18, 2025 — The Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro is wrapping up the summer on a high note with the inauguration of three new inclusive and sustainable public spaces that transform urban areas into vibrant community hubs. Designed for and with the community, these projects reflect the Borough’s commitment to creating inclusive, inspiring, and environmentally conscious living environments.

From sports to art, nature to social connection, these new spaces invite residents to reclaim their neighbourhoods, get active, be creative, and come together.

Groundbreaking marks the start of construction for Pierrefonds-Roxboro’s first skatepark

The Borough is proud to announce the start of construction on its very first skatepark, to be located in À-Ma-Baie Park in the eastern sector. This new facility is eagerly anticipated by skateboard, scooter, and BMX enthusiasts. Scheduled to open in spring 2026, the project represents a $1.7 million investment.

Located on a long-vacant lot near the local youth centre, the skatepark will become a dynamic hub for fans of these sports. Designed by the specialized firm Spinworks, the project features an inclusive and innovative layout created by skaters, for skaters. It will offer a variety of approach lines to encourage creativity, shaded areas, and spaces for spectators.

Open to everyone, regardless of age or experience level, this facility promises to become a vibrant and welcoming gathering place for the entire community.

An intergenerational cooling zone at Rive-Boisée Park

The Borough has officially inaugurated a new intergenerational cooling zone at Rive-Boisée Park, in the presence of Borough Council members. Located on the site of the former PPK pool, this installation offers a refreshing and inclusive experience for all ages. It features two distinct areas: one calm and welcoming space where families can relax without getting wet, and another playful zone with water jets designed for children to enjoy free play. In the evening, ground-level lighting with changing colours transforms the site into a magical and soothing space. Funded through the City of Montreal’s Participatory Budget, this award-winning project — with a $1 million investment — reflects the community’s desire to create accessible spaces for gathering and well-being. It is part of a broader initiative to revitalize public spaces, led by the Borough and supported by both local and city-wide residents.

An artistic mural to inspire the next generation of tennis players in Pierrefonds-Roxboro

The Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, in collaboration with Tennis Montréal, is proud to announce the unveiling of a new tennis practice mural at Brook Park, in the presence of Borough Council members, Tennis Montréal Executive Director Hugues Léger, and mural artist Jenna Schwartz. This unique artwork was produced by the non-profit organization MURAL and created by artist Jenna Schwartz. Featuring Montreal-born athlete Gabriel Diallo, the mural aims to encourage free tennis practice while celebrating Montreal’s urban art scene. Diallo, currently rising through the ATP circuit, represents a new generation of Quebec talent alongside Leylah Fernandez and Félix Auger-Aliassime, inspiring youth to take up this increasingly popular sport. The project is part of a joint initiative by Tennis Montréal and Pierrefonds-Roxboro to make tennis more accessible, notably through the installation of artistic practice walls — also known as “ball backs” — in city parks. These walls, often the starting point for great players, become spaces for learning, connection, and local pride.

Tennis and murals are integral to Montreal’s summer identity. This project brings together sport, culture, and local inspiration to create a vibrant and inclusive space.

The Brook Park mural, offered free of charge thanks to financial support from the City of Montreal and Tennis Montréal, adds to the Borough’s efforts to enhance its sports facilities and provide residents with modern and inspiring infrastructure.
