Reserve and renew library items online
Do you have a Montréal library card? Here’s how to access your account and reserve or renew an item.
Log in to your account
You will need your card number and password.
In your account, you can:
- View the list of books, movies (DVDs, Blu-rays), CDs, or other items you have checked out.
- Reserve an item and view the list of reserved items
- Renew an item
- See if there are any fees on your account, such as fees to replace a lost item
- Manage reading lists created through the Nelligan catalogue
- Change your phone number and email address
Reserve an item
You can reserve up to 15 items.
Access the Nelligan catalogue and follow the reservation instructions. You will then be able to specify the library where you would like to pick up the item(s).
You will receive a notice by e-mail or telephone when your item is available. You have six days to pick it up.
Reservation policies vary for certain items and documents. Some items cannot be reserved online or must be used on-site. Check with your library if you want to reserve the following items:
- Board games
- Toys
- Outdoor recreational equipment
- Musical instruments
- Reference materials
- Consoles
- Tablets
- Laptops
- 3D printers
Renew a document
You can renew:
- Books, DVDs, CDs, games, toys, and musical instruments up to 3 times
- Console video games once
When you renew your item, you can keep it for a period equal to that of the initial loan.
Most items can be renewed, except those that have already been reserved by someone else or for which renewals are not permitted. Check with your local library for more information on this topic.
Blocked account
On the fifth day that an item is late, your account will be blocked. You will no longer be able to renew the loan. To reactivate your account, you must return the late item to your library.
