Call 311 at any time if a dangerous situation requires an immediate response from public works.

For emergency services (police, fire department or an ambulance) call 911.

De-icing takes priority

During an ice storm, priority is given to de-icing streets and sidewalks.

Certain sites are de-iced first:

  • Fire stations
  • Police stations
  • Emergency communication centres such as 911 and 311
  • Hospitals
  • Drinking water treatment plants
  • Main bridges and tunnels

Use extra caution

  • Watch out for branches that could break and fall. Avoid wooded areas and trails.
  • Postpone your trips if possible.
  • Work from home if you can.
  • Prepare an emergency kit in case of a power outage.
  • Prepare your home to prevent flooding.
