Call 311 at any time if a dangerous situation requires an immediate response from public works.
For emergency services (police, fire department or an ambulance) call 911.
De-icing takes priority
During an ice storm, priority is given to de-icing streets and sidewalks.
Certain sites are de-iced first:
- Fire stations
- Police stations
- Emergency communication centres such as 911 and 311
- Hospitals
- Drinking water treatment plants
- Main bridges and tunnels
Use extra caution
- Watch out for branches that could break and fall. Avoid wooded areas and trails.
- Postpone your trips if possible.
- Work from home if you can.
- Prepare an emergency kit in case of a power outage.
- Prepare your home to prevent flooding.
