Free training today. A job at the new aquatic complex in 2026

If you’re dreaming of working at the new aquatic complex but haven’t completed all the required certifications to become a lifeguard or swim instructor yet, we’ve got great news: lifesaving courses are offered for free. How to prepare for a job at the new aquatic complex as a lifeguard? To qualify, you must successfully complete the following certifications:

Bronze Medallion

  • Be at least 13 years old at the time of the final exam or hold the Bronze Star certification.
  • Demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for the Bronze Star level.

Bronze Cross

  • Hold a Bronze Medallion certification.
  • For more details, here’s an overview of the Bronze Cross course.

Standard First Aid with AED

National lifeguard - pool

  • Be at least 15 years old at the time of the final exam (you can work as an assistant lifeguard starting at age 15, or as a lifeguard starting at age 16).
  • Hold a Bronze Cross certification.
  • Hold a Standard First Aid with AED certification.

  • You must hold a Bronze Cross certification or higher.
  • Be at least 15 years old before the last day of the course. This means you can start the training at 14, as long as your 15th birthday occurs before the end of the program.

Since the new aquatic complex does not currently offer training, you can complete your certifications at nearby pools. Registration periods for your courses may already be open, so don’t hesitate to contact them for more information.

To find a schedule that works for you, use the Lifesaving Society’s search tool and select the following options:

  • Categories: Aquatic or First Aid
  • Region: Montréal
  • Courses: Choose the next course you need based on the pathway outlined above.
  • Then click the APPLY button.

If you want to take your courses in the Winter 2026 session (starting January 2026), you must register in December. For the Spring 2026 session, register before March. No matter where or when you complete your training, it’s free of charge.
