A major mobility study and a consultation process, which was carried out in 2023 in order to hear from the local population, led the city to undertake new developments to improve safety and mobility in the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Context

The last construction project in the area dates back to 2015. The project was interrupted in order to avoid congestion in the area when the Échangeur Turcot interchange and the Viaduc Saint-Jacques were built. Upcoming projects planned on public property are the redevelopment of the intersection between Boulevard De Maisonneuve, Boulevard Décarie and Boulevard Upper Lachine as well as the redevelopment of Boulevard de Maisonneuve and Avenue Girouard. The objective is to offer safe and user-friendly developments that encourage sustainable mobility.

Objectifs

  • Ensure safe travel, especially for the most vulnerable users such as pedestrians and cyclists
  • Make living environments more pleasant
  • Ensure the accessibility of neighbourhoods and major travel generators such as the Vendôme and MUHC hubs

Construction between 2009 and 2015

Several municipal construction projects were carried out prior to the opening of the MUHC. The primary aim of the project was to improve public areas on Boulevard Décarie. It included infrastructure repairs and reconstruction of the CP railway bridge.
