Over the next few years, the Marconi-Alexandra area will be transformed into a revitalized environment, adapted to the needs of the area’s workers and residents alike.

A more user-friendly living environment

Wider sidewalks, added bike paths, plantation of trees and plants, drainage basins, added urban furniture: the Marconi-Alexandra area will undergo several improvements over the next few years. The aims will be to ensure safer active transportation, to enhance greening and to make the area more resilient. All overhead wires will also be buried in the area.

The creation of new green space, the Parc des Gorilles, in the very heart of the island bordered by Rue Beaubien Ouest, Rue Saint-Urbain, Rue Saint-Zotique Ouest, and Avenue de l’Esplanade will provide the community with a unique environment.

The redevelopment of streets in the Marconi-Alexandra area, as well as that of the Parc des Gorilles sare part of the MIL Montréal project. The objective is to transform the site of the MIL campus of the Université de Montréal and its bordering areas into a truly diversified living environment that will be sustainable and grounded in collective and active transportation.
