Since the appearance of art in the first human communities, the animal has figured among the representations. From rock art to contemporary art, the pet, the wild animal or serfdom occupies an important place in the iconography pictorial. This conference will provide an overview of animal representation in art from prehistoric times to the present day. The speaker will analyze some of the works of animal representation in art, will raise the main meanings of the and the symbolism of this presence in paintings, sculptures or architecture, in particular the king’s animals at Versailles. A look at contemporary art will be taken.
