History, sociology, political science, philosophy: the social sciences and their traditions have long helped us to explain the great social movements. But the challenges facing humanity now require a better understanding of the psychology and neurobiology of human beings to succeed in changing the habits that have brought us to the brink of a sixth mass extinction. It is this contribution of cognitive sciences to a better understanding of current issues that this presentation proposes to explore.
