Tous les matins d’Elinor, a reference to the film Tous les matins du monde, is a recital that aims to be both intimate and full of discoveries, highlighting some of the most beautiful works by Bach, Dall’Abaco, Telemann, and Tartini, as well as the piece Les Pleurs (Sainte-Colombe) from the film.

Elinor Frey is a leading musician who takes immense pleasure in exploring the myriad facets of her instrument of choice, the cello, as well as its distant relatives such as the viola da gamba. As an accomplished researcher and musicologist, she has also unearthed an impressive body of forgotten works, significantly enriching the repertoire for her instrument.

She has devoted a significant portion of her career to recording and publishing her most remarkable discoveries in modern editions, many of which come from Italy—undoubtedly one of the first countries to have established the cello as a solo instrument, whereas until then it had been considered primarily an accompanying instrument. In order to perform this eclectic repertoire on the ideal instruments, Elinor commissioned several from her favorite instrument makers, including the internationally renowned Quebec luthier Francis Beaulieu, who designed a five-string cello and a viola da gamba for her.

The performance is preceded by an introduction to Baroque dance with Anne-Marie Gardette hosted in French.
